The theme for our youth this year is “Real 16"~ experiencing what's real for us and others today
“Real 16” is our sarcastic play on an MTV show called “My Super Sweet 16.” "My Super Sweet 16" a disheartening portrayal of wealth, spoiled children and material aspirations run amuck. While watching the show, our children see their peers expecting parents to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on a Sweet 16 birthday party.
When our youth come to youth group this year, we want them see and experience what isn’t portrayed on MTV... we want them to see and experience what real 16 year olds deal with in this world. We hope to accomplish this by getting to know what our youth deal with, and by helping them learn about poverty in the world, letting them experience what others hope for, and having them serve others.
